Ronald David Paul — Cultivating Community Growth Through Real Estate and Banking Leadership

About

Ronald David Paul

Ronald David Paul is a Maryland-based real estate investor and former community-bank executive who blends financial acumen with a hands-on approach to development across the Washington Capital Region. As founder of Ronald D. Paul Companies and guiding force behind Bethesda Investments, Inc., he acquires, renovates, and manages marquee commercial and residential assets—from first-class office buildings such as the 46,805-square-foot Highland Park Building to multi-family complexes that revitalize local neighborhoods. His signature style pairs meticulous property repositioning with tenant-centric upgrades that elevate market value and spur economic vitality.

Leveraging an accounting foundation earned at the University of Maryland and early roles with Coopers & Lybrand and Middle States Construction, Mr. Paul co-founded EagleBank in 1998. Over two decades as chairman, president, and CEO, he grew the institution from a single branch into the Capital Region’s largest community bank, stewarding more than $8 billion in assets across 25 offices while regularly ranking among the nation’s top performers for growth, profitability, and efficiency. His expertise in commercial real estate lending and investment banking led to congressional testimony and industry speaking engagements on building resilient, community-focused banks.

Recognized as a Washingtonian of the Year and inducted into the Washington Business Hall of Fame, Mr. Paul channels personal experience with kidney disease into extensive philanthropy. After two life-saving transplants, he and his wife established the Ronald and Joy Paul Kidney Center at George Washington University Hospital and launched the National Kidney Foundation’s annual Capital Area Kidney Walk, which has raised nearly $1 million for research, education, and patient care. An avid golfer and sports-memorabilia collector, he continues to mentor entrepreneurs, support charitable causes, and invest in projects that strengthen the fabric of the region he calls home.
